Raid Preparation Guide

Running T2 Challenge content demands more than just good gear and a solid group. You need to stack every advantage you can — on-level consumables, crafted buffs, and when things get serious, store-bought items to push your stats that extra mile.

This guide covers what to bring, what to craft, and what to buy before stepping into any T2C raid.

Desired Stat Percentages (Raid Targets)

Use the shared raid target reference as your baseline before consumables and temporary buffs:

Physical Mitigation cap varies by armor type: Light 40%, Medium 50%, Heavy 60%.

On-Level Crafted Consumables

The most important thing to remember: your consumables must be on-level. Out-of-date food, pots, and scrolls give reduced or zero benefit at cap. Always use the highest tier available for your level.

Food & Trail Food

Food provides a sustained stat buff that lasts through combat. You can have one cooked food buff and one trail food buff active at the same time — they stack.

Cooked Food (Cook profession):

  • Provides a primary stat boost (Might, Agility, Will, Vitality, or Fate)
  • Higher-tier recipes give larger bonuses and longer durations
  • Always use critical success versions for the best stats — these give a significant bump over normal output
  • At current cap, use the Mûrai tier: Luxurious Roasted Oryx Shank for Might classes, Luxurious Stuffed Eggplant for Agility, or Luxurious Eggplant Dip for Will
  • For a group feast, Splendid Mûrai Feast buffs Vitality, Might, Agility, Will, and regen for everyone

Trail Food (Cook profession):

  • Provides a secondary buff such as fire/shadow mitigation and armour
  • Stacks with cooked food — always run both
  • At cap, Pot of Mûrai Honey and Oats is the top trail food — it adds fire mitigation, shadow mitigation, and physical mitigation
  • Critical success trail food is a noticeable boost over normal versions

Tip: If you are not a Cook, ask your kinship or check the Auction House. Crit food sells fast at raid tiers, so stock up ahead of time.

Potions

Morale & Power Potions (Scholar profession):

  • On-level morale and power pots are essential for every role
  • Healers rely on power pots; tanks and DPS need morale pots as emergency recovery
  • Always carry at least a full stack of each into a raid
  • Critical success potions restore more per use — use these whenever possible

Stat Tomes (Scholar profession):

  • Single-use tomes that give a temporary boost to a primary stat
  • Scholars can craft these at higher tiers
  • Stack with food and trail food for maximum stat padding

Battle & Warding Scrolls

Battle Scrolls (Scholar profession):

  • Boost your offensive stats (Physical Mastery, Tactical Mastery)
  • At cap, Scroll of Mûrai Battle Lore gives +7,830 Physical Mastery and +7,830 Tactical Mastery
  • Previous tier: Scroll of Umbari Battle Lore gives +4,060 to both masteries
  • Crit versions give a larger and longer-lasting buff

Warding Scrolls (Scholar profession):

  • Boost your defensive stats (Physical Mitigation, Tactical Mitigation)
  • At cap, Scroll of Mûrai Warding Lore gives +7,490 Physical Mitigation and +7,490 Tactical Mitigation
  • Previous tier: Scroll of Umbari Warding Lore gives +4,130 to both mitigations
  • Tanks should always have warding scrolls running
  • Healers and ranged DPS benefit too — T2C mechanics hit hard regardless of role

Edhelharn Tokens (Hope)

  • Crafted by Jewellers, these provide a Hope buff that directly increases your stats and resistance
  • At cap, Mûrai Edhelharn Token gives +6 Hope and +637 Resistance
  • Previous tier: Umbari Edhelharn Token gives +6 Hope and +593 Resistance
  • Hope is critical in raids because many bosses apply Dread — a debuff that reduces your stats and can cause you to cower if it stacks too high
  • Always carry enough for the full raid — you may need to re-apply if you wipe

Shield-spike Kits & Caltrops

LOTRO Store Items — The Extra Edge for T2C

Crafted consumables get you most of the way there, but for T2 Challenge content where every stat point matters, store-bought items push you over the edge. These do not replace crafted consumables — they stack on top of them.

Stat Tomes (Permanent, Account-Wide)

  • Available for all primary stats: Might, Agility, Will, Vitality, Fate
  • Each tome adds a permanent +10 to the stat
  • You can use multiple tomes per stat (up to a cap)
  • These are permanent account upgrades — the best long-term investment in the store
  • Over time, stacking stat tomes gives a substantial baseline increase

Enhancement Runes

Revival Tomes

  • Allow you to revive on the spot after a defeat without retreating
  • In T2C, a single death at the wrong moment can wipe the group
  • Having revival tomes means a quick recovery instead of a long run back or a lost attempt
  • Carry several — you may need them on progression fights

Morale & Power Bubbles

  • Store-purchased items that grant a temporary absorb shield (morale bubble) or power reserve
  • These can save your life during heavy burst damage phases
  • Useful for tanks and healers who need an emergency cushion

Hope Tokens (Store Version)

  • Stronger or longer-lasting versions of crafted hope tokens
  • Useful when boss dread is high and crafted tokens alone aren't enough
  • Stack with crafted hope for maximum dread resistance

General Tips

  • Restock between pulls. Don't wait until you run out mid-fight. Re-apply food, scrolls, and hope between every boss attempt.
  • Coordinate with your raid. Make sure someone is dropping fellowship-wide tokens. Don't double up with another player using the same token.
  • Crit versions matter. The difference between normal and critical success consumables is real. For T2C, always use crit.
  • Check your level. If your consumables are from a previous expansion, they are likely giving reduced benefit or none at all. Craft or buy current-tier.
  • Budget your store items. Permanent stat tomes and empowerment scrolls are the best value. Revival tomes and bubbles are situational but critical for progression.
  • Don't skip hope tokens. Dread is one of the biggest silent killers in raids. Running without hope is playing with a stat penalty you don't need.

Prepared is powerful. Bring everything you can, stack every buff, and give your raid the best chance at clearing T2 Challenge content.
